THE RAPHAEL RECORDER

Picture
Raphael Recorder - Edition 6. September 2020

A bumper edition of the Raphael Recorder for September with some great articles from a number of our pilgrims - including why Fiona Heakin fell out of love with Donny Osmond and in love with early mornings in Lourdes!

Also a round up of what happened in our first ever Virtual Pilgrimage that replaced our usual visit to Lourdes.

A huge thank you to our Editor in Chief and Pilgrimage Director, Paul, who works so hard to pull the Raphael Recorder together and keeps us in touch with what is happening both in Lourdes and in the Raphael family.

As always new contributors are always welcome so why not pen your own article and send it to Paul for the next edition!

Raphael Recorder - Edition 5. August 2020

In this edition we read the fasinating story of Sr. Bernadette Moriau a religious sister who was healed on 11th July 2008 after her pilgrimage to Lourdes. This healing was recognised on 11th February 2018 and is officially the 70th miracle attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes.

We also hear from a couple of our own pilgrims about their personal Lourdes experiences - Cathy Daly and our own Pilgrimage Director - Paul Affleck. We are also regaled with news from north of the border in Edinburgh on how the lockdown has been treating a much loved member of our nursing team - Jean Lugton.

Feel free to share your own thoughts, jokes, poetry or stories with Paul for future editions.

Raphael Recorder - Edition 4. July 2020

An update on the sanctuary and how it is being affected by the Coronavirus pandemic from Bishop Olivier Ribadeau Dumas, Rector of the Sanctuary of OurLady of Lourdes.

We also hear of a little light in the darkness of the pandemic from one of our pilgrims - Kate Howes, as well as a contribution from Eileen Walton who tells us what it is that she loves about Lourdes.

There is also a (not so) important missing persons appeal!!!!!!

Raphael Recorder - Edition 3. June 2020

Thanks once more to Paul for pulling together a third edition of ‘The Raphael Recorder’.
It is fabulous to have a number articles in this edition from different pilgrims, sharing some the things that make Lourdes special for them, with thanks to Wenda Cordell, Anthony Cunningham and also from our Chair of Trustess - Tracy Ennis.

Why not share your own story with Paul and in turn share your experience with other pilgrims from the Raphael family.

Raphael Recorder - Edition 2.  May/June 2020

Thanks to our Director for sharing the second edition of ‘The Raphael Recorder’.
We are indebted to Rev Fr Richard Andrew, Parish Priest at Holy Trinity Church, Brook Green for his synopsis of the Theme in Lourdes for 2020: I am the Immaculate Conception.
This phrase helped to convince Fr Peyramale of the veracity of the apparitions experienced by Bernadette. She was illiterate and had not heard of the expression while learning catechism in preparation for her First Holy Communion.
Although the Sanctuary of Lourdes has opened its gates, entry to the Domaine is limited to locals and those living within 100km of the Sanctuary. This is to comply with the restrictions on travel imposed by the French Government. The Baths remain closed.
In our next edition we hope to include contributions from more pilgrims.  So please write something of interest or supply a photograph that we can all share.
